  255. All sample files were created with an HP LaserJet IIIP printer
  256. selected.  All text uses the fonts available with that printer.
  257. If you print these charts using a different printer, the fonts
  258. may not map into optimal selections on that printer,
  259. especially if the smaller fonts are not available.
  260.  
  261. You can change the typeface of all symbols in a chart at the same time with
  262. the Symbol Text Fonts command (Tool Bar button with the single "F" in it).
  263. Select all symbols (Symbol Select All), then click the "F" button. From the
  264. font dialog, select a typeface name that you want. If you only change that,
  265. all other font properties will remain unchanged. You can do this with any
  266. group of selected symbols.

  272. Where the Tool Bar Icons Are Defined
  273. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  274. Each Tool Bar Icon button selects a command from the menu. To see
  275. what commands are tied to the Tool Bar, press F1 from the main Chartist
  276. Window. This brings up the top level Help Index for Chartist.  There is
  277. a Tool Bar Topic that you can click on, and that will tell you what you
  278. need to know.

  280. Printing Problems
  281. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  282. Chartist uses a lot of different text and graphics commands for drawing
  283. to displays and printers. Some printer drivers distributed with Windows 3.1
  284. have bugs in them (!), causing incomplete drawing of symbols or lines at times.
  285. We know that the HP LaserJet II series (and clones), and some HP LaserJet III
  286. series printers can exhibit these problems. The drivers released in the
  287. fall of 1992 and later correct the known printer driver bugs with respect
  288. to Chartist and Chartist-2. You need to get these drivers from Microsoft.
  289. If you have access to Compuserve, they are available in the Microsoft
  290. Software Library. Download the file WDL.TXT for an up to date listing of
  291. the available driver updates. You should also be able to get the latest
  292. driver from your printer manufacturer.

  296. Library Shapes
  297. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  298. A common question asked is about additional shapes to those
  299. available in the standard shape file. We generally add shapes to
  300. the shape file on user request. So far the additions have been very
  301. simple, and we have not charged extra for this service. Just about any
  302. shape that can be represented as one or more polygons or polylines
  303. can be quickly generated and added to the shape file. When you register
  304. just describe or sketch out the shape you want, and we will do our best
  305. to accomodate you.

  307. If you still want to "roll your own", there is a shape library technical
  308. document and support package available to registered users. Creating shapes
  309. is fairly technical, but the standard shape library provides many examples
  310. that you can build upon. The shape library technical document with 6 months
  311. of technical support for making shapes cost an extra $25 (plus applicable
  312. taxes).
